Investment in hyperscale data centers in Spain tripled in 2025 to €977 million, and is expected to reach €1.729 billion in 2026. These figures confirm what was already becoming clear: Spain is turning into one of the key points of AI infrastructure in Europe.
Who is building, and where
- Amazon has committed €33.7 billion to data centers in Aragón.
- Microsoft has opened its own cloud region in Madrid.
- Google is building infrastructure in Málaga.
Adding up all the announced commitments, total investment in data infrastructure in Spain between 2025 and 2030 already exceeds €66.9 billion, according to industry estimates.
Spain's bid to host a European AI gigafactory
In June 2026, the Council of Ministers authorized a €719 million investment in the consortium that will submit Spain's bid for one of the AI gigafactories being pushed by the European Union, a project that could mobilize up to €5 billion in total. The bid is multi-site, with Móra la Nova (Tarragona) and San Fernando de Henares (Madrid) planned as locations to host the infrastructure.
