Kit Digital 2026: what's changed and how to claim your grant to digitalize your business

The program is still active, with more funding available and a higher amount for freelancers and microbusinesses. Here's what you need to know before applying.

Kit Digital remains, in 2026, the main public funding route for Spanish freelancers and SMEs to digitalize their business. Order TDF/39/2026, published in Spain's Official State Gazette (BOE) on January 26, 2026, updates the program's regulatory framework and increases the amount available for the smallest businesses, funded through the EU's Next Generation EU funds.

What's changed compared to previous rounds

The most relevant change for freelancers and microbusinesses is the increase of the Segment III grant (businesses with 0 to fewer than 3 employees), which goes from €2,000 to €3,000. The program has also broadened its technology priorities: alongside classic categories like website and internet presence, e-commerce or customer management, artificial intelligence and advanced cybersecurity are gaining weight as eligible solutions.

Who can apply and under what requirements

  • Freelancers and microbusinesses with 0 to fewer than 3 employees, with no restriction based on how long they've been trading, as long as they meet the tax and labor requirements.
  • Being up to date with payments to the Tax Agency and Social Security.
  • Not being classified as a business in difficulty, and complying with the de minimis rules.
  • Completing registration and the digital self-assessment test on Acelera Pyme before applying for the grant.

There's no fixed deadline, but the funds do run out

Unlike previous rounds with a closed deadline, this edition has no set closing date: the grants are available until the assigned budget runs out. In practice, that means it's worth not leaving it until the last minute, especially if the goal is to relaunch the business website before peak season.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Register in the private area of acelerapyme.es and complete the digital self-assessment test.
  2. Check the solutions catalog and choose an accredited digitalization agent.
  3. Sign the solutions agreement with that digitalization agent.
  4. Submit the grant application through Red.es's electronic office.

Where web design fits within Kit Digital

The "Website and Internet Presence" category is one of the most requested in the catalog, but the grant covers a set of minimum requirements that often fall short if your business needs more than a generic template. We aren't an accredited digitalization agent, so we don't process the grant directly, but we do handle the custom web design project built to fit with Kit Digital alongside the digitalization agent managing your grant. If you'd rather check the indicative cost of a custom project first, or add content optimized for your website, we can put together a joint proposal.
