This article picks up right there, focused only on that: what exactly the AI grant covers, how much money is available depending on your company size, and how to access it. Three categories dedicated to AI-powered solutions
Kit Digital's catalog doesn't have a single "artificial intelligence" category: AI is built into three categories with their own official names, originally regulated under Order TDF/435/2024:
- Customer Management with associated AI. Built to automate customer relations: chatbots and virtual assistants that answer queries, manage bookings, or provide first-level support without constant human intervention.
- Business Intelligence and Analytics with associated AI. Dashboards and predictive analytics that cross-reference business data in real time to anticipate trends, spot sales patterns, or flag deviations before they become a problem.
- Process Management with associated AI. Robotic process automation (RPA) combined with AI to eliminate repetitive administrative tasks: invoicing, data reconciliation, report generation, or internal workflows that are still handled manually today.
Within these three categories, the catalog of approved solutions in practice includes: chatbots and virtual assistants (both customer-facing and for internal team queries), predictive analytics dashboards with real-time data, RPA combined with AI for repetitive administrative tasks, generative AI applications for documents and reports, and AI-assisted cybersecurity solutions.
How much you can claim depending on your business size
The grant amount depends on the segment your company falls into. With the 2026 expansion, the program now reaches from self-employed workers up to medium-sized companies with up to 250 employees:
- Self-employed and micro-enterprises (0-2 employees): up to €3,000.
- Small businesses with 3 to 9 employees: up to €6,000.
- Small and medium businesses with 10 to fewer than 50 employees: up to €12,000.
- Medium-sized companies with 50 to fewer than 100 employees (Segment IV): up to €25,000.
- Medium-sized companies with 100 to 250 employees (Segment V): up to €29,000.
The grant covers 100% of the contracted solution's cost up to the maximum for your segment, with no co-payment from the business beyond VAT and any amount exceeding that cap.
No fixed deadline, but a finite budget
As with the rest of Kit Digital's categories, the 2026 expansion doesn't set a specific closing date for applying to the AI grant: the aid is available until each call's assigned budget runs out. In practice, that turns "apply sooner rather than later" into the only sensible timing strategy: there's no date on the calendar creating urgency, but the budget does run out, and applications are resolved on a first-come basis.
The legal basis: Order TDF/39/2026
The expansion phase that reactivated Kit Digital's remaining 2026 funds, including the extension to medium-sized companies in segments IV and V, was regulated through Order TDF/39/2026, published in Spain's Official State Gazette (BOE) on January 28, 2026. You don't need to dig into the administrative detail of the order to apply for the grant: what matters in practice is that it expands both the budget and the company size the program reaches.
How to access the grant, and a real example of what it funds
Access to the solutions catalog and to registered "Agentes Digitalizadores" (the accredited providers who deliver the funded solutions) is through the official portal acelerapyme.gob.es. There you complete the digital self-assessment test, check the catalog, and choose the digitalization agent to sign the solutions agreement with.
